I have cream walls in my living room, can I put up cream lace curtains. The furniture is red and cream and the dining table chairs and table and TV stand are black. Would cream curtains go with a cream wall? It is a council flat, but it is my home. Any ideas?

Nothing wrong with cream lace curtains against cream wall. It is a nice minimalist clean look.
I think it would be a great idea. I did it in one apartment I lived in. If you want color, get some print pillows or attractive pictures to hang up. It is your home, so make it a place you want to come home to!
You can keep the cream curtains and maybe add a colored valence so it doesn't just blend into the wall. :)
Here is a similar photo of what you have going on colour-wise (browsed the web) so yes, it would look rather chic. My bedroom is based around red, black and cream and I love it.
Cream on cream would look great, I think. If you want variety (and of course it's your home, so personalize it to your heart's content), how about adding a bit of texture with those curtains? For instance, you could choose layers of sheer fabric with lace trim, velvet cord to tie them back .... Then add a cream-coloured lace or crochet center piece to your dining table (for fun)?
It sounds like a great idea. Just make sure it is the same exact shade of cream as your walls, because it can look a little 'off' when the colors don't quite match.
I think a contrast to the walls would look nice, maybe cream, but with some red throughout the pattern?
