There is a strong odor of a rotten onion. I can't find a source. I have never smelled an onion this strong. It seems to be near the kitchen and dining room, but I can't locate the source.

It could be the drip pan in your refrigerator.
have you tried cleaning out your drain recently? I would recomment throwing a cup of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), then throwing a cup of vinegar after it, then a kettle full of boiling water to clean up any possible mess in there
