Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted softened butter
1 cup sour cream
1 3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
6 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Frosting
1 cup unsalted softened butter
1 tsp vanilla, coconut or almond extract
4 cups powdered sugar
5 Tbsp milk
food coloring, if desired
sprinkles
Steps:
In a standard mixer or bowl, cream together the butter and sour cream until smooth. Add in the sugar, eggs, vanilla, and almond extract until combined.
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add some of the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and mix. Add the rest until well combined.
Line a tray with parchment and use damp hands to form 1 1/2" balls with the dough that are placed about 2 inches away from each other. Use the bottom of a cup dipped in water to flatten the cookies.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 5-7 minutes. Watch the cookies! You do not want them to burn. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Frosting
In a bowl, mix together one cup of unsalted butter with one tsp flavoring extract. Add powdered sugar one cup at a time. Mix until smooth.
Then add milk and your choice of food coloring. Cream together until fluffy and smooth.
Spread onto cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles immediately.
