Does anyone know of any online social groups, other than Friendster, MySpace, or Facebook? None of those 3 are my cup-of-tea. I am looking for sites that have real-time chat rooms (as opposed to just forums) and which are for middle-aged or older women who are not looking for dating opportunities and who are non-political, non-religious, non-sportsy, non-exercisey, and non-outdoorsy types?
I am having a hard time finding chat rooms that aren't monopolized by, especially, political arguments, sportstalk, or flirting. I heard about one called wow.com, but the website appears to be down. And there's one called owl.com for older women, but it's all the way back east; so there goes any opportunity of maybe meeting any of the members. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

All I can suggest is, you can use this site http://www.similarsites.com to try to find similar sites to the ones you mentioned. It may help or it may not, but you have nothing to lose by trying it. (04/06/2010)

Here are two community sites that are especially for moms. Maybe one of these is more what you are looking for: Mommysaver.com and CafeMom.com
I have no affiliation with either. (04/07/2010)

Lynn, I don't know how old you are, but there's a site that I like for baby boomers (age 50 and older). It's Eons.com and you can log on to it at www.eons.com. There are different chat rooms for whatever you're interested in. There's one for knitters, grandmas, religion, music, etc. (04/08/2010)

Hi, everyone, thanks for the wonderful suggestions; I've joined NotOvertheHill and Eons, although they don't seem to have chat rooms like I'm looking for. And thx, Suntydt, for the suggestion about similarsites.com; I checked it out and they didn't come up with sites similar to the one I used to love but which went down; but similarsites.com is a great site to know about anyway, I know I'll use it in the future.
