I had a tongue piercing done on Dec 28th, 2020. All the swelling apparently went down and there was no pain, I was able to eat again. Now all of a sudden, there is a lump around the bottom of my tongue piercing as shown in the pictures below. If anyone can give me advice or have went through this can tell me what I need to do it will be helpful. I brush regularly and use sea salt mouthwash. Does anyone know what this may be? There is little to no pain.

This could be scar tissue. I would visit a doctor if I were you.
This could be caused by infection, bacteria that stays in the mouth. It is important that you clean more often with piercing. You have to treat or it may cause other serious health problems.
Please check with a doctor, dentist, or nurse, or last resort, the place that did it. Never mess with things in your mouth. Safety first! Post back what you learn! Prayers for healing!
Hey the bump didnt go down after a week of using sea salt thinking it was a infection. But soon as i took the tongue ring out my mouth the bump actually started going down that same day.
Most likely just scar tissue. If you're concerned, see a doctor. You can try putting hydrogen peroxide on it with a Qtip, and if it foams up a lot, it could mean infection starting in the piercing, which means you REALLY should see a doctor. PS- Not to be mean or insulting, but I'm 64 years old and don't understand why anyone would want a pierced tongue. Doesn't it ever get caught in fork tines while eating? Or noodles get caught on the stud? Just wondering.....
Hey i actually had got use to eating with it lol. There was a few times I bit down on the tongue ring while chewing Because I'm so use to chewing on both sides but overall I got use to it being in my mouth so it didn't bother me. After a week of trying sea salt again after drinking and eating it didn't help the bump.

If the bump went down when you took out the stud, that probably indicates an allergic reaction to the metal. I can only wear sterling silver or stainless steel ear studs or wires, not nickel or other cheap metals without getting red, itchy, sore earlobes.
Since it appeared a few days after the swelling went down I believe it could be infection since I believe it takes a little longer for scar tissue to appear but no matter what answers we give you, only a doctor can tell you for sure.
Maybe make an appointment with your doctor but contact the person who did the work (in person is best) and ask if this is a common occurrence or do they have any suggestions before you see a doctor.
Since the problem with your tongue stud got better after removing it, I'd say that you might be allergic to the metal your stud is made of. I have the same problem with earrings, both studs and wires. If I wear any kind of earrings that are NOT sterling silver or gold, my ear lobes get swollen, red, sore and itchy. I don't know if your tongue can handle another kind of metal stud, but you could check where you had your tongue stud put in to see if they have another metal option. Good luck.
