MTD Riding Mower Stalls When Making a Left Turn?

My MTD 660 (about 10 years old) stalls when making a left turn. I've looked for rubbed wires, been over the steering column and linkages, and checked the safeties. I weigh almost 300 lbs, so the seat switch isn't the problem. I've never run into something like this! Recommendations?
