I found a vintage Israeli 9" doll, hand made by Sabra. Any idea about her creator? Thank you, for any help!

They range from about $20 to almost $50. These are asking prices. www.etsy.com/
Oh, sorry! I dont know why they didnt come up in my search.
These are dolls that were hand crafted by local artisans in various kibbutz in Israel and sold as tourist items to earn money from the group. They are very similar to other ethnic tourist dolls in that they depicted real life scenes--either current or historical.
My understanding is they were made in the 1950s and 1960s. Some had tags, but some did not.
From what I understand there is no way to track them back to the artist. There may have been new research done on these and that has changed, but that was my last understanding on them. There was a museum in Israel that either had a display or was creating a display. I don't know if that ever happened.
Sadly they have very little value in the market if you are trying to sell. Someone has your gal up right now:
Neat dolls and it appears they were made in the 50's - 60's but most were sold in gift shops and it was said that many were retained in the local homes.
They are not that plentiful but seems they were made in quite a few different poses and each was different as local people made these dolls as they just usually did "Piece work" and turned them over to a "store" that finished the item with a label..
Interesting dolls but I have never been able to locate any real information about any one company.
Here is a link to an article (very long) about this type of doll and how the styles have changed over the years.
