I have a loom that is oval shaped and am trying to make a hat on it. This is my first time looming. The rows are not straight vertically when removed from loom, they slant to the right. What should I do to not have this problem?

First, when knitting on the loom, loosen your tension by not wrapping the pegs as tightly for cast-on AND the knitting over.
Second, after you bind-off, block your item into the correct shape by laying it out on the ironing board and spraying (use a mister or a a sprayer filled with plain water) until completely damp.
Next you'll do the shaping - use your fingers to straighten the slight directional twist back to a straight position and then pin the knitting to the ironing board by simply using the straight pins as you would to thumbtack a piece of paper to a bulletin board.
Let it dry completely before removing it from the ironing board. You may have to re-block after each laundering.
