best results are when you use a push up bra with padded cups of any size - hopefully in a cool colour like red or purple
I donated a bunch of bras for bra hats for a club and they were all Ds. They ended up great.
These are favorites of the Red Hat Society and of course they will usually be in red or purple.
There does not appear to be a "standard" size but most use a size D cup because they want it to "stand out".
