Just be sure not to over process with the food processor as it can turn to powder not flakes if you do it too long.

We shred fresh coconut here all the time. You will not have a rasp like we have to do this one with. Cracking the shell can be difficult to get the meat out of the inside of the coconut. If you can manage to crack the shell and remove the meat the best way to do this is with a cheese grater. Other than this I have taken a stick and hit 4 large nails in the side of the wood and used it to remove the coconut when I visited the US.
