Making Simmering Granules?

I have made some simmering granules with dishwasher salt, food colouring, and fragrance oil and left them to dry for 24 hours on a tray uncovered. They smelled strong, but then when I put them on a burner they don't let off much scent? Help please.

Here is a great site to make it so easy for you to make your simmering granules and store them in a jar. This person has been making them for years and understand that you need a lot of the fregrances oil to make them smell great when they burn.
