Making Tissue Paper Puffy Flowers

Supplies:

• tissue paper, 2 colours
• scissors
• small Styrofoam ball or ping pong ball
• glue stick
• thin bendable wire

Steps:

1. Cut your 2 colours of tissue paper. The flower petal dimensions should be about 10" by 4.5" and you will need 5 pieces. The pistil dimensions should be 10" by 1" and you will need 4 pieces.

 
2. Place the ball at one end of a petal paper and twist the end shut.

 
3. Add a bit of glue and twist it a bit more.

4. Fold the 2 flaps outward so it's neatly creased.

 
5. Now twist the paper on the other side of the ball so it's like a piece of wrapped candy.

 
6. Loosen the twist a tiny bit and remove the ball. This is one flower petal.

 
7. Repeat these steps to make 5 flower petals.

8. Take a strip of the pistil paper and twist it into itself tightly.

 
9. Repeat to make a total of 4.

 
10. Take an 8" piece of wire and bend the end into a hook.

 
11. Fold the pistils in half.

 
12. Now hook the wire onto the folded portion of the pistils.

13. Twist the wire onto itself to secure the pistils on.

 
14. Place the flower petals around the pistils with the openings facing upwards.

 
15. Tightly twist the remaining wire around the stems. Slightly trim the pistils and pointed ends of petals if desired.
