This adorable sleeping bag can be altered to fit any size doll. You or your little girl can make a Barbie doll, American Girl Doll, or Cabbage Patch kid doll sleeping bag. This is a great project for older girls who have learned sewing basics, and now want to try a real project.

The basic idea is to sew two pieces of cloth together, inside out, then flipped for a neat seam. Then the two sets of sewn fabric are sewn together, inside out, then flipped, to create a lined sleeping bag. The bottom of the sleeping bag is hand sewn with yarn, and the sleeping bag has cute yarn bows and a matching green felt pillow.
Approximate Time: 20 minutes
Supplies:
fabric, amount depends on doll size. 2 colors/patterns needed
thread
sewing machine
needle
yarn
scissors
Instructions:
Measure doll and cut four pieces of fabric (two from each color/pattern) about two inches taller than the doll, and six inches wider. You need the extra fabric for the seams.
Pair one "yellow" piece of fabric and one "frog pattern" piece of fabric, making sure the two fabric pieces are facing "inward". Sew the sides and bottom of the fabric together, but leave the top open. Repeat this process with the remaining yellow and frog pieces of fabric.

Turn your sewn pieces the right way, so that the seam in inside, and the front of the fabric is facing out. Choose which fabric is the lining, and which is the outer sleeping bag. I chose a yellow lining. So I paired the two sewn fabric pieces with the yellow facing out.
Sew the sides of sewn fabrics pieces together, but leave the top and bottom open. Turn the sleeping bag inside out, so that the seams are inside and the "frog" fabric is outside. Check that everything lines up.
Turn the sleeping bag inside out again, thread a needle with thick yarn, and hand-stitch the bottom of the sleeping bag closed. Turn sleeping bag back so that the seams are inside and "frog" fabric is outside.
Use the needle and yarn to pull out each corner of the sleeping bag and create little bows. To create the "folded" effect, do not sew sleeping bag all the way closed at the sides. Leave a small amount of fabric that you can fold down in front, and secure in place with the yarn ribbon.
