Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts I was cleaning out my pantry and found tons of really old bags of dried beans with very little left in them. Even though they were dated, and some rather dusty, they looked pretty in their natural colours, side by side. I decided to turn them into this mural for my kitchen. To make this, you just need some paints that are close in colour to your beans.
Total Time: 2 hours
Yield: 1 mural
Supplies:
- canvas
- paints to match bean colours
- paintbrushes
- white glue
- dried beans
- acrylic sealer spray
Steps:
- Use your paints to make the base of your mural on your canvas and allow to dry. Make sure you don't have any lines that are thinner than your beans that you will put on top later.
- When your paint is totally dry, apply some white glue to one paint colour.
- Spread the glue around, then add the matching coloured beans on top in one layer.
- Work your way around until you've covered the area with that colour of beans.
- Start adding glue to your next section of paint.
- Keep gluing the beans on in the matching colours.
- Go around the mural edges to find any bits that need beans to make it look polished. Allow glue to dry, then coat with a layer of acrylic sealer.
