My kids love to draw in the car, at restaurants, and while they are sitting around waiting at places. It seems like the supplies are always getting spread out, getting lost, or getting ruined. I saw a nice little plastic pencil box at the store the other day and decided to make a portable drawing kit.
I bought large unlined index cards (which fit well in the box), added colored pencils, and a sharpener. The box can be used as a little drawing table on their laps and they can now easily take their supplies anywhere. Parents can always use new ideas to keep their kids busy. :)
I keep highlighters, crayons, pens and scrap paper pads (and also a few tiny toys) in a zippered cosmetic pouch in my purse. :)
I love this idea. I am an artist, sadly not a child any longer. :) I love this idea as a portable drawing kit to take with me. Thanks for sharing.
I have seen a similar idea using an old rectangle shaped cake pan with the sliding lid. The lid is flat making a surface for them to draw on, and slides to contain the pens, pencils, crayons, etc.
