A mallard duck and her mate hang out near our boat dock everyday. Yesterday we found 2 eggs, not in a nest and not even near each other. Just laying on the dock in different corners. What should I do?

Don't touch them until you talk to a wildlife refuge and get their guidance. If you can protect them without touching them (like putting something up away from them so that people don't step on them that is ok--but be sure that if the duck parents wants to come back to it, she can--like don't put a cardboard box over it--but maybe orange cones with rope that is high enough a duck can get back to it but tells people don't walk here)
Abandoned eggs can mean anything from some human (or predator) moved them from the nest to the duck laid and abandoned then because she knows they aren't viable.
The wildlife folks are amazing and can assess the situation for you and give you the best solution/guidance for this situation.

You can call your local animal control and ask them what they recommend.
THEY WILL NOT SIT ON THEM UNTIL HAVE LAYED ALL THEIR EGGS.I WOULD JUST LEAVE THEM THERE.THEY WILL PROBABLY BE BACK.
