Silver Post Medal for All Time! 254 Posts Granola isn't one of the cheapest foods but it is definitely nutritious and a great way to start your morning. You can play with the types of nuts and dried fruits you add into this. I love the richness the peanut butter brings to this granola.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups oats
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 1/2 cup cashews
- 1/2 cup pecans
- 1/2 cup dried cherries
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup raisins
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowel, add 3 cups of oats.
- In a small bowl, mix together the peanut butter and maple syrup. You may need to warm this mixture up in the microwave so it will mix well with the oats. Be sure to watch it though cause if it is in the microwave too long it can start to cook the mixture and will turn tough.
- Mix the peanut butter mixture with the oats coating the oats.
- Add all the nuts in and mix.
- Pour the mixture onto a cookie sheet and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Stirring the mixture every 10 minutes or so.
- Cut the cherries in half. Add the dried fruit to the mixture, let cool.
- Pour into a container of your liking for storage. Enjoy with milk or just by the handful as a snack.

The fat content is through the roof on this! Personally, I don't consider that terribly healthy. Three types of nuts as well as peanut butter? Not terribly thrifty either (given the price of nuts).
