At the end of the year many items go on super sales, especially holiday items that the stores do not want to bother to pack them up and store for a whole year. So they put them out for 50 -75% or more off so that you buy them. However, how many of us have purchased Christmas lights, or cards or wrapping paper, or even a gift for someone's birthday or anniversary only for the time to come and forgetting about the item or where we put it. I use my faithful calendar. At the beginning of December I will see the note that I have new cards, lights and paper and I stored it in that special place (also prevents me from buying more) Or I need a gift and remember I bought something already and again, I mark on the calendar at the beginning of the month, what I bought and where it is, so that all I have to do is wrap the present. Sure saves a lot of time and money.
