To find the right moving company, start looking far in advance. Ask your friends and family about moving experiences they've had - they may be able to recommend some good companies! You should request quotes from multiple movers and accurately describe your total moving inventory to them - you may be able to save money if your haul isn't too big and you certainly don't want any invoice surprises after Moving Day.
Always following packing best practices. You wouldn't want any pricey (or sentimental) items to break on transit. Plates, glasses, and other china are especially susceptible to pick up damage while moving, so pack plates vertically and invest in proper amounts of packing paper, bubble wrap, etc.
Know anyone who just moved or is moving soon? You might be able to score free moving supplies from them! Many supplies are things that can only be used while moving, so old stuff might be up for grabs. Ask fellow movers for their old boxes, packaging peanuts, packing paper, etc. and when you are done moving, spread the love by trying to find a new, needy home for your old moving supplies!
