Used old jewelry to make this wall art for a friend.
Total Time: 1 hour
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- old jewelry
- beads
- jewelry or craft glue
- picture frame
- wire cutters
- scissors
- background photo, optional
- wood alphabet letter
- paint
- tweezers
- pliers
- toothpicks
- paintbrush
Steps:
- Paint the wood alphabet letter if desired. I chose to paint mine black so that if there were empty spaces between the jewelry, the black rather than the wood color would show.
- Separate and prepare beads and jewels to prepare for gluing onto the letter. I would suggest tracing around the wooden letter and cutting out a paper shape and then using that shape to arrange the jewelry onto when making the design. Pictured below is a firefly I made out of an Indian totem pole charm! Once the design is completed, begin gluing the jewelry/beads onto the wooden letter, using a toothpick to apply glue and using tweezers, if needed, to lift onto the letter. Let dry completely.
- Next, place background picture into picture frame. Then, glue back of letter to background picture that has been placed into the picture frame. Let dry. I embellished the background picture with some tiny gems to represent the "firefly" lights since I was going with the theme of the firefly.
