Mother Goose and her new bonnet. This is my old Mother Goose stuffed toy I had as a child in the late 50's, early 60's. She was missing her bonnet so I decided to make her one. I found what the original bonnet looked like but came up with this simple bonnet that could also be used for a doll.

Supplies:

8 by 11 inch piece of fabric
1/2 yd lace trim
1 1/2 yd ribbon
embellishments
thread and needle
scissors

Steps:

Fold fabric in half lengthwise, right sides together, and press with an iron. Unfold. Press 1/4 inch under on both long sides and 1/2 inch under on both short sides

Fold rectangle in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Hand baste lace between the top and bottom of bonnet to hold in place. Leave 1/2 inch space where the fold is which will later be used as a casing for the ribbon. Sew lace in place by machine.
