Moving Zebra Finch Eggs?

I have 2 zebra finches and they have laid 3 eggs in their seed tray. She is sitting on them all the time. If I get a nest box and put the eggs in there would she ignore the eggs?

Maybe.

I would certainly get a nest box for next time, but don't put it in yet. Just put a small bowl for seed in the cage so they can still eat. If the babies hatch and survive, put the nest box in once they have grown enough to be out of the seed tray.

I raised Zebra Finches along with other softball birds for over 45 years! This information has been well taught to me. Zebras nest in a little nest. NOT a nesting box such as a Parakeet. You can get a twig nest with a good which they like, or a plastic or twig type nest such as a Canary would use.

Nesting parents also like a soft food mixture to feed their babies. Hope this helps. I loved watching my Aviary's activity gave me and my I'll husband many enjoyable hours. Good Luck to you!!!
