My 14 year old dog was healthy and had no known health conditions. She went outside during the day to lay in the garden for a while, acting completely normal, and a few hours later we were calling her in. She didn't look comfortable the way she was lying and when she tried to get up her back legs weren't working. She was trying so hard, but we had to lift her in.
She kept trying to get up, but her legs just wouldn't cooperate and then she would just fall down, with hitting her face on the floor a few times as she couldn't even keep her head up at this point. We phoned a vet and were going to take her in, but then eventually we saw that her breaths were getting slower and she passed away with us by her side. I am going mad not knowing what happened to her and am scared to even let my other dog in the garden.

This is normal for a dog of that age. She died of old age and more than likely her heart stopped working and she either had a stroke or heart attack. I am so sorry for your loss and know how hard it is to loose an animal that you love so much.
So sad for you. Sending you heartfelt condolences.
You could ask your vet. To me it sounds like what we went thru when our sweet gal had a massive stroke.
Sadly like people some times we just never know exactly what happened.
Be easy on yourself and know you gave your pup a lovely life. If you need help with grief, please seek help.
Prayers for all.
Sorry for your loss, only a vet can tell you for sure what your for baby died of. You will always get confirmation and piece of mine, if you need it.
This sounds like what happened to my 16 year old yorkie. I knew he didnt have long and am glad he was able to pass peacefully in my arms. I miss him so much, he was a wonderful dog and my childrens childhood pet.
