My 3.5 year old Lab mix died in her sleep last night. She was fine last night and our other 2 dogs are OK. What happened? I'm devastated and can't pay $900 for an autopsy. I know it wasn't poison. I am looking for closure.

So sorry for your loss. Sometimes, dogs, like people, have undetected heart problems or diseases. There is no way any of us can know what the cause of the dogs death was. Your vet could give you his or her opinion, but only an autopsy could give you the best answer.
Prayers and condolences on your loss. Like people, dogs can pass and we may never know exactly what happened. My dad always said when the big guy upstairs calls you home, he calls you home. You can see if the pup's vet can give you verbal feedback on what may have happened.
I strongly recommended seeking grief counseling. It's so painful to lose a beloved fur child. Be easy on yourself. Hugs and prayers!
I am very sorry for your lost.
My friends dog passed away unexpectedly as well. He thinks it was from pesticides after walking his dog on a different route. He is unsure but he's sticking to that.
But dogs can die suddenly just like humans. Most common is due to heart issues.
Other factors: toxin ingestion, internal bleeding, bloat, dog's past history, etc.
