I went to the salon to get a body wave, just something to give my fine short hair a lift. I now have an afro, how can I get rid of some of this curl? No, I can't cut my hair shorter.

I have a sister who is a retired hair stylist and she always told me just because you have a perm doesn't mean that you don't have to use a blow dryer and round styling brush, then maybe finish it off with a curling iron. She said that is the only way to make a perm look decent. She was always on my case, because I let it go natural, which at the time was popular and for the type of hair I have looked better than without a perm. You could try styling it. Otherwise I don't know what you could do. I know when you get a perm you aren't supposed to shampoo your hair for three days, the stylists tell you that. Maybe if you thought it was too curly at the beginning, you could have shampooed it right away and that might have got rid of some of the curl.
I had a terrible perm she messed it up bad I came home and washed it three times and put oil in it and nothing I mean nothing happen I am three weeks into everyday trying to loosen it and still can't get curl loosen
I've done that. But better yet rise with clear water when you get home and ever day for 2 or 3 days till it looks like you want it.
Well, my experience with a perm is that it looked curly for a week then started to relax into ugly waves. perms definitely do relax over time, when mine started to relax i wanted it out and still want it out!! thankfully it's almost straight again now (after only 2 months, very fast).
Yeah, I took my kid to get a perm and it's super tight. He does. He wants to loosen it
