I have hundreds of these eggs on and around my floating dock on a fresh water lake. I suspect they are from an arthropod (insect or arachnid). There are so many of these I suspect they are nocturnal since we are on the dock constantly in the day and I never see this many of anything.
This egg is between 1/16th and 1/8th inch in length.
Any ideas?

They could be some kind of amphibian.
If this is something you have never seen before and you are in the US, I suggest calling your local home extension office and seeing if they can come out and look at this.
I say this because it could be something that should not be in your lake has got there...these type of things pop up around the US where various non-native and sometimes invasive water creatures end up where they should not be found...climate change, pollution and human carelessness are all causes of this challenge.
It could be something innocent, but since this seems to be happening more and more and more, I would strongly recommend having an expert in your area look at this and taking care of it if it is something not good.
If you don't have a home extension office, do you have an agriculture school or a fish and game commission? Someone who is a water expert in your area needs to check this sooner rather than later.
Please post back what you learn! I am very curious and a little worried.
Thanks!
