I got pink marker on my grey leather pants. I looked up how to remove it. I used nail polish remover. The ink is gone, however, I now have a stain from the remover on my pants. It actually looks worse than the ink spot did!

Nail polish remover can and will remove color. You can get leather dye kits on Amazon, or you can go to a shoe repair shop and they can custom dye the spot to match the rest of the pants.
Unfortunately it's ate at the fabric now. You could try a leather colouring kit.
If it was mine, I would take it to a REPUTABLE dry cleaner or shoe repair shops and ask if they can professionally repair it. The shoe repair shop that I used to love near me, fixed a pair of shoes that had a similar problem and it was like it never happened. Sadly, he closed and we have a limited supply of both dry cleaners and shoe repair people where I am. I would not try fixing this on my own.
Wishing you an easy solution!
I agree with Pghgirl about taking it to a professional but those are almost extinct now as even common shoe repair shops are difficult to find.
You might Google leather purse repair shops to see if there is someone in your area as they may take a look at it for you.
My oldest daughter takes problems like this and finds 2 or 3 nice appliques to cover the stain plus maybe another for balance and sews them on. Not sure if she has tried this with leather but give it some thought if you cannot fix the problem.
