Need New Heater in my House?

I am a single mom with 2 young daughters and the heater in my house is broke. I need a new heater. It's 58 degrees in my house right now. How can I find programs that can help me get a new heater?

I live off of $210 twice a month and never have money to spare. I'm looking for work but am not having luck right now. My house is cold and I'm scared my pipes will start freezing soon. I am in need of serious help. I live in the northeast Philadelphia. Please if anyone can help please let me know.

Been there and done this with a young one myself years ago. Start boiling water on your stove...drape the doorway off to the kitchen with a blanket nailed or tacked to the wall. Once the water is boiling hard, turn the stove down to only having it turned on a little to keep the water producing steam up into the air Make a pallet on the floor to sleep on with your children and blankets galore laying atop of you with your clothes on [perhaps even a winter jacket or sweater].

Contact your Social Service area in the morning and explain the problem to them... your landlord should do something about your predicament also IF you have made the problem known to him. God Bless and good luck!

As a former property manager, I don't advise boiling water. It will make mold faster. If there is absolutely no one who can help you buy a 48.00 heater from a dept. store, go to your local St. V's or Salvation Army and they will be able to help. This heater will heat your apt., if it's normal size which is about 600 sf...for less than any heaters you can buy.

If, like the poster said, this is a landlord problem, make your needs in writing and he will have just 24 hours to fix it. You have to have water, hot water, heat and the ability to power your home and all of those are his/her responsibility.
You obviously have power so if the heater doesn't work, it's up to him.
