It's so nice to watch this little fella. He is the acrobat of my back yard. He goes to the feeder, selects a sunflower seed, then proceeds to the nearest tree.
There, he scampers about, upright, sideways and upside down, looking for just the right crevice in which to lodge that seed. That just right crevice will securely hold his seed while he cracks it open.
Then it's off for seconds and thirds and...Well, let's just say this little fella sure has a hearty appetite.

I put spent sunflower heads on a hanging feeder. This nuthatch didn't seem to mind that I was standing almost right next to him.
