I've posted this elsewhere, but I still love it! The "chestnuts roasting on an openfire", have a family sitting around a fireplace roasting chestnuts, you can even have a Christmas tree. Have the song playing as well. (11/08/2007)

Try an old style lamppost with carolers standing under it, singing selections from favourite carols. You could have a village backdrop with church steeple. Make sure your carolers dress in old fashioned dress, long dresses, cloaks, bonnets, top hats, tails, breeches, etc. (11/08/2007)

"Old Fashioned Christmas" Float Theme

I am from Mississippi too, and what comes to my mind is having an old timey tractor or one of those old Ford trucks pulling your float. Then I would go out and cut a cedar tree to put on the trailer. I would make it like the inside of a house, and have a grandma and grandpa sitting in rocking chairs next to the tree and the fireplace with grandchildren gathered around either singing carols or have them reading the Christmas story.
