After watching a YouTube video on making an old compass from a teething ring purchased from Dollar Tree, I came up with this original idea.
Total Time: 1 hour
Yield: 1

Supplies:
- glue
- paint primer
- toothpick
- hinges and wing nut
- old CD
- black paint
- metallic paint and paint brush
- compass template
- wing nut
- thumb tacks
- nuts
- top of old flashlight
Steps:
- Spray paint primer on the cd and the hardware. Let dry. Find a compass template from the internet and print. Glue onto base of CD. Cut a toothpick in half. Paint black. Glue onto compass template. Lay top of flashlight lid onto top of old cd for proper placement of thumbtacks and bolts. Glue thumbtacks (I clipped the point off of each thumbtack) onto top of bolts and then glue around the CD, leaving a space for thumbtacks and wing nut.
- Paint with bronze metallic paint and let dry. Glue flashlight lid to top of compass template. Using mustard and cinnamon (or similar colors) paint, dip sponge into both colors and dab onto random areas to give it a tarnished look. Glue hinges and wing nuts on the gaps between the thumbtacks.
