Old Wood Floor Care?

Recently moved into 110 year old home. How do I take care of original wood floors so they look nice and don't cause splinters?

Sorry but that is a loaded question.
Questions:
1.) What condition are the floors presently in?
2.) Have they been recently redone (maybe last 5-10 years) and doing anything right now is not necessary other than just good care?
3.) What kind of wood are the floors made of?
4.) If redoing is necessary; do you plan a DIY job or will you be paying to have it done?

Once you have answered these question for yourself then you will be in a position to ask for guidance for your first step.

There is a lot of very good information online once you have answers and know what to look for. There are also good videos on YouTube for each process.
So write down what you need information on right now such as: 110 year old oak/pine wood floors care (or any of the other answers) and Google your question.
I feel sure you will find many links for each step.

I have a few but my links will just be for general information since I have no answers to the questions written above;

homeguides.sfgate.com/oil-vs-varnish-hardwood-floors-82509...

These sites have information but are also forums and you join and ask questions of your own.

How nice; Sounds like your family may be on a new adventure.

It is best to ask yourself , what is it you want done to your floors? Are they in need of deep cleaning, soft cleaning, resurfacing , stain/repair, etc. Then decide from the type of wood floors you have to complete this project.

Sometimes it depends on the type of wood to better assist cleanup. Here are some do's and don'ts - www.thisoldhouse.com/.../how-to-clean-wood-floors

You will probably want to have the floors sanded smooth and sealed with several coats of polyurethane.

Some good info here:
twentyandoak.com/.../the-definitive-guide-to-floor-care...
*You need to avoid ammonia, vinegar or products with harsh chemicals and water-based hardwood floor cleaners. If your wood floor finish is badly damaged, avoid using a wet mop. Instead, always use a mop with as little moisture as possible during cleaning.*
