Please advise if you have used this item before I buy it. I am looking for something to cut up onions with because I always seem to have problems with the onion sliding around on the cutting board when I try to dice them myself. I would like to know your opinions before I buy. Thank you.

Buy a mandolin instead. Trying to cut a whole onion at one time is going to take a lot of pressure. When the blades get a little dull it will be almost impossible to do it. You can get a good mandolin for 20-30 bucks and will be able to slice a lot of things.
