This is one of my Mom's favorite cookies. No shortening required! Super easy, chock full of orange flavor, and not too sweet!
Beat sugar and egg 3 minutes in a bowl. Stir in flour, oranges, and nuts. Spread in greased 8x8 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree F oven 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
While baking, make your glaze. Stir all of glaze mixture together until smooth.
While warm, spread cookie with glaze. Allow to cool. Cut into squares.

A nice clean hint of orange makes this cookie taste like the Orange Julius drinks you get in the mall.
Cut up orange slices and add a little sugar and flour over chunks and mix so they won't stick together. Cream sugar, shortening.
Dissolve yeast in water. Set aside. Combine milk, butter, sugar and salt; cool to lukewarm. Stir in 2 cups flour; beat until smooth.
