Outlet Stopped Working

Out of nowhere, the one outlet in the bedroom stopped working. The TV uses this outlet. All the other outlets in the room are okay. I checked the circuit breaker box, and none appear to be tripped. Just in case, I flipped all of them to no avail. What could have happened, and what should we do? Thanks!

Outlets do wear out and wires do break, especially if not installed correctly. If you are comfortable working on it, replace the receptacle, checking the wire for damage or burns from getting too hot, often caused by a loose connection. If you aren't comfortable, get an electrician. As in the posts below, electricity can kill and it can cause fires if wiring is done wrong. Always err on the side of caution. (03/09/2009)

I am sure you already know this but just to be sure: Don't mess with it until you've turned the breaker off even if it means you have to make a few trips back and forth from the breaker box to the outlet to see if you've possibly found the problem. (03/09/2009)
