Can I leave my Calla lily outside in the winter?
Becky
I don't see where you live, however, I live in central VA-zone 7. I have calla lilies which have come back over the last 8-10 years. They say they are not hardy to zone 7, but mine are in a front flower bed facing west. I believe it is because that is the warmest bed with the sun hitting the bed the most year round. I love them. Good luck. (07/13/2009)

Moved into a home in zone 5, 2014. Found blooming calla lilies amongst the hostas, north side of house. Believe it-little to no sun due to the house's shadow! Next year moved them out a few feet from the house to get more sun-maybe 1 hour. No flowers-just leaves! Next year, moved into container on west/south sides of house. More than 6 hrs of sun. Same thing-no flowers, just leaves! Moved them back next to the north side of the house, in the hosta bed. This summer, I finally saw the flowers grow-2017! Why? Because someone told me that plants right next to the basement get protected from the house's heat so may not die during Rochester winters!
