My wife has dentures. She's had them for quite some time. Recently she has gotten a sore the size of a Tic Tac on her bottom gum, between her lip and gum. She says it's very painful. What could that be? We are waiting for dentist appointment.

Dentures wear differently and gums shrink. It is not uncommon to have little sores from time to time. You must go to your denturist and have the dentures refitted.
It also might be a small abscess. If you go to www.webmd.com and put in dental sores or gum sores you can find what you need. I have had them and they make eating very hard. Good luck.
It's probably a small mouth ulcer, very common, painful and harmless. Try rinsing the mouth with a solution of Vit.C and include plenty of fresh food, fruit and vegetables in the diet. Sometimes they are a sign of reaction to some specific food and alertness to what is eaten might provide an answer if the ulcers are persistent.
Use Anbesol as a numbing agent until you can get to the dentist.
