Paint Color Advice for Bathroom with Green Fixtures?

I have a small bathroom with grass green toilet and tub. The ceramic tile is a 70's rectangular two toned-green/pinky beige with some tiles of lavender pink flowers. The woodwork is very orange in tone. The sink is white with a green marble top which I plan to replace with a small chrome sink and white arborite top. The vanity will go white as will the wood work. What color should go on the walls? Now it is painted green and it is just too much green.

Go with beachy colors! Cream, beige like sand for the walls. Look for tropical looking floral print for the shower curtain. The colors you have were very popular in the 1950's.

Have you thought about a light grey? Grey is actually a wonderful colour on walls as it seems to help all other colours 'pop'.

I did a bathroom once with dated tile and fixtures (avocado greens and the walls were the same, yikes!) when I was on a really tight budget-I was stuck with those fixtures for years.

I painted the lower half of the walls with a washable high-gloss mildew resistant medium grey and the upper half with a satin gloss mildew resistant lighter shade of grey (the gloss paints made clean-up a lot easier!), then found a really cute beach scene border paper in the dollar bin at the paint store. I pasted the border paper where the two shades of grey met, it immediately was so much better in there!

The greens suddenly were far less garish. I picked up on the yellows, reds, blues, and browns in that border paper for accents (toothbrush holders, towels, hooks and bars, shower curtains, etc) and all those colours looked perfect against the grey walls.

A few years later I changed the beach scene border paper for an ivy vine one-just that one little change and it all still looked great. I got a lot of compliments over the years for that bathroom:)

I like white. If you don't want to commit to anything radical, go with white. Any color of towel or accessory will match - so you can use the colors in the tiles and fixtures as your guides.

I would go with white painted walls. Your accessories are multi colored & this will help balance those out.
