If you happen to be re-doing your kitchen cabinets, try using 2 different colors for the upper and lower cabinets. Try using a light color for the top cabinets and a darker color for the bottom. Using a darker color on the bottom with ground the cabinets and having a lighter color for the top cabinets will make them feel less bulky. The high contrast will create a clean and sleek look for your kitchen.
Bottom cabinets: Suggested Material Options -Mahogany Wood, Chocolate Brown Laminate, or Chocolate Brown Paint.
Top cabinets: Suggested Material Options - White Painted Wood, White Laminate, White with Glass Fronts, Aluminum, or Faux Aluminum Laminate (Wilsonart or Laminart Laminates have good faux metals)

I did a grey paint wash on the kitchen floor, the walls are painted a grey, it's so hard to see it all, but the counter top is a natural wood slab, blue is my favorite color so I did the bottom cabinets using a few different techniques. Now I am doing the top ones in a grey lighter than the blue, but as dark as I can to set them apart some from the walls. It is a large kitchen with full sun all day.
My problem now is I can't get the shadowing to look right. I have to keep in mind the varnish makes it pop, what if I did a just grey with wood distressed on the top and had not used the same shadowing? I have designed and painted this myself and am now freaking on how it will look in the end!
I would go with an off white . More like beige or tan and you could add a little light gray to it .
I would definitely do a light color .
Or maybe a light baby blue .
Definitely something light .
