I would defiantly go with a lighter color as it seems rather dark in there. A cream or light beige would look really nice !!

It depends how youll use the curtains. Is the curtains only to cover at night, or during the day for daylight.

I would go with an off white, or shade of white if you are not looking to block off sun.

If you want to block off sun, Id go with a green.

This room is kind of dark and gloomy. Use a white or off-white curtain.

Light shimmery gold to brighten it up but keep it snazzy. Cute room!

You've got an dramatic color scheme, so you are right to be careful about the color choice!

I love the natural wood doors and trim you have that give a softer counter point to the red and green. Instead of introducing a new color, I would take your color cue from that.

Fabric choice is important, too. An opaque fabric would make it so hard to get the right color, whereas a luminous sheer will have numerous color variations throughout, as the light hits it. Choose a shade as close to the warm hue of the woodwork as possibble. You can go a "little" lighter, or slightly darker but be careful...especially going darker. You don't want it to stand out...it should feel as neutral as the woodwork.

A lighweight liner in a similar color can be added...this will also help in getting the feel closer to the woodwork. THAT's where you can experiment with lighter and darker versions of the hue behind the sheer to get the right look. Be sure to do this in the doorway. Like paint, view it with daytime natural light, and in the evening with the chandelier.

I couldn't find quite the right color in a ready made curtain, but played a little with one to give you an idea.

I sort of like the idea of going with a teal green color. I think it would add to the room and blend the colors nicely.

But on the other hand if you want to lighten up the room, you should go with a very light tan color almost cream color.

I agree that a lighter shade of curtain would brighten up the room but the first question would be "why are you using curtains at this door"?

  • Are you just looking for something to semi block what is on the other side of the door or do you want to completely block the scene?
  • It looks like you are trying to hide a laundry room and that would take a heavier material.
  • It looks like you are talking about a "hidden" door (one that slides into the wall) so that means you will have to install some sort of "hanger" on the outside part of the door frame.
  • Will you ever wish to tie back the curtains so the entrance will be open?
  • Sheer curtains would mean you could see the door frame when open so will that work for you?
  • Thicker, heaver curtains may be difficult to navigate through if the door is in constant use.
  • A very light sheer "color" will not block the view to the other room but it will stand out so think about that also.

  • Ecru, beige or creme may not stand out as much as white but would still blend in with your other colors.

I was looking for a curtain for a sliding glass door that leads outside to the patio. Not the door in the picture. The picture was just to show the color of the room. Thank you
