Percolator Handle Dried Out and Gray Looking - handle no longer shiny blackI have an old stainless steel percolator. I know how to clean it except how to restore the look of the handle; it ashy looking. I would like to restore it to black, it looks dried out.

I used a Magic Eraser on mine and it looks great

Is it Bakelite? Or plastic? Plastic can be restored to some extent with olive oil rubbed on with a clean white rag.

Bakelite requires special treatment. This one works if there is not a lot of damage:

You can coat it with a thin layer of black polymer clay. You will have to bake it according to the instructions for the clay, but that should be no problem for a thin layer.
