You can change the paper to match the theme of your party too. I chose colorful scrapbook paper that I had on hand to make these.
Total Time: 10-15 minutes per pinwheel depending on the size
Supplies:
- scrapbook paper
- ruler
- pen
- glue
- tape
- scissors
Steps:
- As a demonstration, I will be making 6" pinwheels. You can apply this same concept with 12". Using your choice of 12 x 12 inch scrapbook paper, measure out 6" even squares and cut out.
- Fold accordion style into strips.
- Repeat two more times to have a total of 3 folded strips to assemble the pinwheel. You will need more for larger pinwheels.
- Now fold the pinwheel strips each in half.
- Repeat the fold for all 3.
- Time to glue or tape the seams together on each of the three fans.
- Flip the fan over and tape the fan's seams all to each other.
- Flip over and glue the insides together so nothing falls apart.
- Repeat the steps above until you have enough pinwheels for your decor or backdrop.

This is a great idea and can be adopted for other papers. I sent this to my daughter and she says she is going to let her first graders color or paint on printing paper (packages of paper came as "gifts" from Walmart) and make these as gifts for their parents.
So - thanks for this great posting of photos and clear instructions.

You are very welcome, Betty. You can cut a circle and put it over the center and put like #1 Mom, #1 Dad like an award!
