I have a bonnet, I could take a picture and email it to you if you want. Maybe I can trace a pattern from it for you. Send me an email if you want to try this. GG Vi
Would you please send me a copy of pattern for the bonnet. I been looking for a pattern for a bonnett. My grams use to make them. And she has passes away a Fe years back and no one has the pattern for them.
My Grandma Anna Erdei
Hand made them from a man's shirt! The collar was the brim of the hat.
If I remember correctly...
She cut the back of the shirt in a circular pattern
Larger than needed..
Then by hand with a piece of stretchy elastic type band material (available at the craft/sewing store)
She would make a 1/2" hem on the sides & back slipping the elastic through the hem with
a safety pin attached to the elastic to the opposite end.
She made them in adult and kid size. Elastic was in the back & sides of hat and could be adjusted to the person's head before you slip into the hem to create the size needed for child or adult. Them simply sew the ends of the elastic in to reinforce it and create the puffy part in the back of the head.
