My husband turns 40 this year and 3 days later my eldest turns 16. I need ideas for a joint birthday party or something special.
Thanks. X
My first thought was a car themed party...so 40 is not quite an antique car, but it is a classic and 16 is driving age in most states!
So something with a car theme could be cute!
The best selling car in 1980 was an Oldsmobile Cutlass, but one of those that lasted the longest (I had one and drove it until it literally rusted away) was a Chevy Citation.
You could have a cake made to look like a car, everyone could get a Matchbox or Hotwheels car as a door prize, etc. Pinterest is loaded with fun ideas!!!
Have fun and birthday blessings to the duo!! Post back what you decide!! ENJOY!!!

I want to have a joint 14th party with one of my friends, but her mum said that we can't have it at her house, and we can't have it at mine because it is too small. Most people at school have parties outside, but there's just not enough room. We want to invite 50ish people. Any suggestions where to have it and alternatives?
If it is nice out you could have it at a park. Try renting a hall I don't know your budget. A bowling alley, most serve food and drink.
I have a favorite cousin who is turning 17 on October 3rd and it's her last birthday before she she goes off to college. I want to make this her best surprise party so she remembers it forever.
The problem is my sister is turning 11 the same day. I can't think of a theme that will fit perfectly for them.Do a theme party(beach,80's theme, country western, masquerade,Red carpet, rocker etc.
How about something fall related? A
Scavenger hunt can work for everyone.
Have a Fall Harvest type of party. Have a DIY Caramel Apple Bar, fun fall coloured foods, music, games
Sounds like you have a lovely heart in that you want to have a special party for both special people in your life!
First plan the initial surprise part for them both (send them off together on wild goose chase to get them out of the house for a brief time, then come back to the surprise.
Keep the food simple for things that every age likes (like walking tacos, nachos, burgers, hot dogs, chips, and soda and lemonade). Most people like cake and ice cream so be sure to plan a special treat for everyone.
This is a perfect time to invite family and friends of all ages! Think of a wedding where there is a mix of beloved people to celebrate. This kind of celebration will bring joy to all!
My hubby's family like to plan parties where all of the guests do the entertainment--meaning song, dance, poetry readings, magic acts etc. We have oldsters who write parody songs and groups get together to sing them. We have very young ones who do little dance routines, and middle agers who read a poem or do a magic trick or tell a few jokes.
It is a little "corny" but truthfully, that makes it fun and full of laughs and love!!
Post back what you decide!! Birthday blessings!
My best friend and I are turning 15 soon and have the same birthday so we want to have a joint birthday party, but we don't know what to do. Anyone have any ideas?

A search for "teen birthday party ideas" will produce many sites with lots of great ideas and themes.
My best friend and I are turning 50 in January, but one week apart. We have different sets of friends, would it be okay to have a joint birthday?
That could be so much fun!! Go for it!!
It would be fun to have everyone get together and mingle (everyone could make new friends!!)
Be sure to collaborate on all the details and maybe even have two cakes (the more cake the better!!)
Post back what you decide and enjoy!!!
If you think they would all get along, it would be fine. If there are going to be personality clashes, I would do it separately.
I think this is a wonderful idea. If you two are best friends then this should be a great opportunity to meet some of her friends and allow her to meet some of yours. I think a joint party is wonderful even if you don't share the same friends. I did this last year with my best friend because our birthdays are a week apart.
Communicate with your friend on what type of party, when you want to have it,and where you want to host this Fabulous milestones for the 2 of you! This should be well thought out,and make sure you keep each other in the loop! ENJOY!!!!!
I'm a 13 year-old girl going on 14 in just under a month. I have a younger brother who is going on 12 and we were thinking of have a joined celebration in the holidays with our friends. All up, there willl be around 10-15 boys and girls all ranging from ages 11 to 14.
I don't know what to do and I am hoping to send out invitations by Friday. I need desperate help on what I should do. I don't want to do anything too physical like laster tag or bowling, and I don't want it to be at home as I live too far away from all of my friends. I need to know what to do for me and my little bro's birthday. It has to be cheap, cool, and unique (not too traditional!) Any answers would be a huge help thankyou!
Bowling is cheap and not too physical. You can have pizza and cake there.
How about a BBQ at the Park and you can play fun games there? Or, a Pool Party?
Weather permitting, wherever you might be, do you have access to a public pool? That's always really fun!
THANKYOU! This was really helpful
My birthday is October 18th and I will be turning 14. I'm planning on having a slumber party with a lot of my friends. I am sharing my birthday with my sister who turns 11 October 21st who doing the same thing as me.
What are some ideas of things we can do? We are OK with ideas for both genders because some of us are tomboys.Aww. I hope you are going to be able to have an in person party by then. Safety first!!!
Best to have a virtual back up plan if needed. The back up could be a virtual party for each group or one party where everyone plays a game together or watches a movie together or just hangs out and chats.
If you are able to have an in person party, think about a party where you have a cooking contest with teams or a contest to decorate cupcakes or a cake or cookies.
The food will be the entertainment and meal (or dessert). There can be prizes for best, funniest, neatest, messiest, etc. Then later you can play games and then in the morning have breakfast and everyone goes home.
Post back what you decide!
You could do arts & crafts, baking, costume contest/with prizes, make up party, scavenger hunt outside( you could use silly gifts and gift card to give away) .
That is so sweet that you and your sister are sharing one birthday party and you are both having some of your friends over for a sleep over. One fun thing is have a PJ modeling competition to see who brings the craziest set of PJs to sleep in. You can tell them ahead oftime that you are going to do this. Then create a runway in the room made out of pillows only and put on music and make each one model their PJs. This is a lot of fun because it is so hard to walk in the pillow to do the modeling.
My father and I are having a birthday party together he will be turning 75 and I will be turning 50. We need a theme and ideals.

You could do a theme of "generations" or "father and son' or "father and daughter" . Show lots of pictures of the two of you together.
The theme can be "Like father, like son" Have lots of pictures of things you have done together.
My child will be 3 years old in November and I, the mommy, will be 30 years old in November also. I wanted to have both parties on the same day to cut costs, but I wanted to go with two different themes. What do you think? Any help in this area will be appreciated.

Set up separate tables for your themes; one for the youth and one for adults. As far as games and such, someone needs to help supervise the small fries, but who is going to entertain the adults? Is it to be more social for them or games as well? If it's parents of these children who are attending, then you could merge games for all ages to play. A little tricky to pull off, but not impossible. Adults act like children at times too and have fun doing it.

My son is turning 1 on 14 July and his dad is turning 30 on 21 July. I'd like to have a joined party for them. Any ideas please?

A giant bar-b-que sounds great! The little guy isn't going to know much so you won't have to do too much that way and can focus on dad's friends. Probably dad has some friends who have children close in age so there should be plenty to play with. I'm all in favor of doing it easy and enjoying yourself!
Get pictures of the baby's dad when he was one yr. old and have copies made of the picture. Use the copies as table decorations in the centerpiece or on the invitations along with copies of a pic of your son. People will enjoy seeing all the photos and comparing them. The rest of the party should be just for the dad since the baby won't remember it at all anyway. Have fun!
My friend and I are both 30 this year. We are having a joint party, but I'd like to surprise her with something. I haven't a clue what sort of surprise to do. Can anyone enlighten me with something to do?
30 lottery tickets would be fun.
So my sister and I were born in the same month and on the same day, but different year. Our birthday is on March 19; I'm turning 17 and my sister is turning 13. We decided to have our friends over and have a party, but I don't want it to seem like it's just my sister's birthday.
What can I do so that you can tell it's my birthday too since she's picking out all the decorations? Any ideas?Definitely have your name on the cake, and you should be included in the birthday song. I would also have your name on the invitation. Make sure there are activities that you and your friends enjoy, too.
I am planning a joint birthday party for my little princess and my hubby; he is turning 24. I don't know what to do. I want to go along with the princess theme, but am so confused. Help!
By Brittany from Las Vegas
Make it a joint Princess and King party!
Step 1
Dress your little girl in a pretty "princess" dress with a little tiara.
Step 2
Give your husband a "crown" to wear at the party.
Step 3
Make or buy a cake for your husband.
Step 4
Make or buy frilly cupcakes for your daughter.
There are more things you can do for a "king and princess" party. They'll be excited, I'm sure!
My sister and I are going to have a joint birthday. She's turning 14 and I'm turning 16. We simply can't afford to have two birthdays so we decided we'll just invite a bunch of our friends and hang out. We know we want pizza for it, but we can't decide whether to have it at Cici's or just order in and have it at our house. Keep in mind, we really don't have much of a budget.
We can get our mom to pay for pizza and that's about it. We need suggestions on where and just other ideas to make the party more fun. Also keep in mind, all our friends, including ourselves, are a bunch of skaters and emos. So no "sweet sixteen" girly girl ideas please. Thanks.By chromej160
If you go to Cici's, your friends may also want to order sodas. If you have it at your house, you can buy just a couple of two-liters of soda and with ice, it will go a long way.
My friend and I are both turning 17 in June this year. We want to do two parties, one for the day time and one at night. We were thinking about a pool party during the day and a lingerie party at night. We want it to be a joint party for both of us. Should we do this? and if so what should our themes be for both of them. We both love Nicki Minaj for the pool party though. Someone please help me. My budget is between 1000 to 1500 dollars. What kind of food should we serve for both of them? We are thinking about a hotel party for the lingerie party.
By Ashley
A lingerie party? For someone who is just turning 17? That's a little too ridiculous if you ask me. I would ax that idea ASAP. The pool party sounds great. Sounds like you've got plenty of money to spend on this, so I would suggest a dance party for the night. Hire a DJ, get a location, get some cool lights. Make it into a dance club scene. Since you guys won't even be legal yet.
