www.habitat.org helps veterans also contact social services in your area!
Many times local churches are the best place to ask for emergency help as many have members who can do the type of repairs you are needing but if the repairs are extensive you may have to go to other agencies. You do not have to be a member of a church to ask for help; just visit their office.
Try Google with free home repairs low income disabled family with your zip code. Several agency names will show and check each one to see if you qualify for help. Local agencies can approve 'help' quickly when there is an emergency situation (such as yours).
If you cannot get local help and you are a veteran, I believe you should begin your search for help with one of the organizations who help veterans.
If you belong to any of the veteran organizations that should be your first stop as they all have information on who to contact. Even if you are not a member you can visit their offices and ask where you can get help. These people are usually very helpful to any veteran who need help.

If you have challenges getting information, you can always call your US Congressman (man or woman) and ask them if they can point you in the right direction. You can find them through Google by putting your town name in with the phrase US Congressman.
