Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 216 Posts I made this recipe up as I went along, and it turned out soooo good! The portabellas make the turkey taste very beefy! I use Jenni-O ground turkey because it is less fatty than my old brand, has a great texture, and holds together well.
Total Time: I work slow; maybe half an hour.
Yield: 4 burgers
Ingredients:
- Burgers
- 1 lb low-fat ground turkey
- 1/3 lb unseasoned bread crumbs
- 1 cup egg, lightly beaten
- stems of the mushroom, chopped small
- 1/3 cup grape tomatoes, chopped small. I squeeze some of the juice out of them.
- 2 cups Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp your favorite hamburger/steak seasoning
- Mushrooms
- 4 large portabella mushroom caps, with stems
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 - 2 tsp ground thyme
- tsp salt and pepper, to taste.
Steps:
- For the Burgers: Mix all the ingredients thoroughly, avoiding over mixing, as it can make them tough. Form into 4 patties. Cook them by your preferred method. I spray a skillet with Pam, get it hot over medium high heat, and fry them until well done and browned.
- For the Mushrooms: Season caps with spices. Cook them by your preferred method. I spray a skillet with Pam, get it hot over medium high heat, and fry them until well done and browned.
- To Serve: Place a mushroom cap on top of each burger. I don't add condiments or cheese, but do so if you like. Serve on your favorite bun. Dig in and enjoy!

I don't know how I missed it, but I used 1/3 cup of the chopped cherry tomatoes. Sorry!

Oh boy, it also doesn't give the amount of turkey. I was sure I put the information in! It's 1 lb of turkey. Sorry!
Editor's Note: We'll get it added.

Just wanted to make sure this amount is correct, seems a lot - 2 cups of Dijon mustard?
