Preparing Dried Cayenne Peppers For Cooking

I have successfully dried some cayenne peppers that I grew in my garden this past summer. How do I grind them up to use them in cooking? Do I use the whole pepper, or should I remove the outer skin before I chop them up?

Annie,
You need to gather the dried seeds and then either use them whole, or grind them to a powder. You can discard the skin and the ribs of the pepper. The heat is in the seeds. Put the seeds or powder into an airtight container. You can use them for about 9 months.
