I have a unique toadstool in my yard. Is there a safe way to preserve it?

Photograph it! There is truly no way to preserve it that won't cause some changes. Lucite may be work (the kind you make and pour) but there is no guarantee and it is expensive and dangerous to work with.
Post back what you decide!
The only I know how to do this is with a clear resin. They use this to make different types of bookends or to preserve flowers. You will need to make a box or a mold holder to put this in. Normally plastic works well to do this.
Poehler,
Can I preserve the flowers that are growing thur the toadstool, just put it in resin?
You may be able to preserve it for a short period of time by placing it in 90% alcohol in a very tight sealing jar.
Universities have methods of preserving fungi but it is a very elaborate system.
Trying to use any other method will probably just dry it out and you'll have shrunken specimen - which might be neat as they take all kinds of funny shapes as they dry.
There was a question on this in a past posting but no real answer.

Maybe someone else has some ideas.
Maybe I misunderstood your question?
I read your question as wanting to preserve the 'shape' of the Toadstool and that would not happen if you use any type drying/preserving method.

Good luck, and have fun!
Here is a great link to preserving mushrooms. It gives step by step to freezing, drying, and packaging/ preparations venchas.com/
Hi,
I wonder if putting it into epoxy would work? I have seen roses preserved in epoxy and they seemed to keep their shape.
