I am looking for a product to stop furniture sliding on carpet.

Have you tried to place cork under the furniture legs? (05/13/2009)
Have you ever seen the little plastic cups that you place under the feet of couches or chairs? They are very inexpensive (I think I have seen them at the $ store). I also think they will protect your floors from scratching. (05/20/2009)

I don;t know if they are still being made, but there used to be a product made specifically for use under the legs of furniture. They looked like miniature saucers made of a piece of saucer shaped metal with carpet on the bottom side. They don't slide onto the legs, they sit under the legs. You could buy them in various sizes depending on the size of your furniture legs. My mother used them to prevent furniture from sliding on carpet and to keep furniture from damaging linoleum floors. They worked great. You may be able to find them at home improvement and old fashioned "hardware stores".

Those saucer things are meant FOR sliding furniture on rugs/floor/other... so you don't damage floor.
Those plastic saucer things are meant FOR sliding furniture on rugs/floor/other... so you don't damage floor. They don't prevent sliding - quite the opposite, as they're sold (at Harbor Freight, Christmas Tree Shop, etc.) to AID in moving/sliding.
