I am not sure of your situation but it could be many things. If you have an older aged dog, of course it may have "had a moment". Sometimes when there are recent changes in your house this could happen ...like getting another pet, moving, etc.
My dog happened to do it and I noticed it was dark yellow ... and strong smelling. Which I passed off as maybe from sitting in his bladder for over night. So I watched and noticed he would pee alot when I took him out. Turns out my doggie had a bladder infection. Which my vet informed me is common in male dogs. They are more exposed I guess. If you don't think its from a major life event, I would watch to see if there are any other things going on and maybe call the vet.

I would be suspicious of bladder infection. If I saw any other accidents or change in behavior, I would take some urine in for analysis.
